Hit-Optimization of intramacrophage active compounds against Mycobacterium tuberculosis
Dr. Abraham López
Postdoctoral Fellow - Av-Gay Lab, Department of Microbiology & Immunology, UBC
Dept of Microbiology and Immunology

Hosted by: Dr. Yossef Av-Gay

Sponsored by: The Department of Microbiology and Immunology

Dr. Abraham López is a UBC post doctoral fellow at the GSK-DDW Tres Cantos Open Lab Foundation. Abraham led the hit profiling and optimization of a set of active intracellular compounds against intracellular Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The talk will provide an educational overview of the accomplishments and setbacks during the hit optimization campaign and will focus in the full profiling and of a novel prodrug against Mtb. Abraham will describe medicinal chemistry efforts covering the identification of key chemical modifications required for improving potency and mitigating series liabilities as well as the research carried out to elucidate the compound mechanism of action.
