Open LDAP Services Unavailable – January 2, 2018 11:33 PT

Open LDAP Services are currently unavailable. CAS integrated services are impacted, including wireless, VPN, student services applications (such as the SSC), and PAT. Technicians are currently investigating the issue and an update will be provided soon.

UBC IT Network Maintenance – Tuesday, January 02, 2018 07:00 – 11:00 PT

UBC IT will be performing hardware maintenance on the Vancouver campus DNS servers on Tuesday, January 02, 2018 07:00 – 11:00 PT. Redundant systems are available, no service disruptions are anticipated.

BCNET Network Services – Degraded Service Resolved December 30, 2017 08:25 – 11:10 PT

Reason:  Full routing table route leaks from a peer caused router memory issues.  Appropriate blocks have been installed.

Effects:   BCNET services for Virtual Router users in Vancouver, Kamloops, Kelowna, and Prince George experienced degraded network performance.

UBC Collaboration Suite (Skype for Business) Maintenance December 28, 2017 22:00 – 23:00 PT

The UBC Collaboration Suite (Skype for Business) service will be undergoing scheduled maintenance on December 28, 2017 between 22:00 and 23:00 PT. There will be no service interruption during this maintenance period.

Home Drive Maintenance December 28, 2017 08:00 – 12:00 PT

UBC IT will be performing scheduled system maintenance on the Home Drive service during the above mentioned time.  Home Drive will be unavailable during the maintenance window.

Voice Shaw SIP trunk maintenance – December 26, 2017 22:00 – December 27, 2017 03:00 PT

There is a voice maintenance period on Dec 26 22:00 to Dec 03:00. There may be a period of 1 minute where PSTN service incoming and outgoing will be unavailable. If that is the case, please hang up, wait 1 minute and then make the call again.

The time period of this outage will be selected between 22:00 and 03:00 when there is a period of no active calls so impact is minimized.

Hugh Dempster Pavilion Network Upgrade December 27 , 2017 08:00 – 10:30 PT

Network maintenance is being performed on the Hugh Dempster Pavilion Network to facilitate upgrades as part of the Network Switch Replacement Program. During this service window on Wednesday Dec 27th between 08:00-10:30 PT, all wired and wireless network services will be unavailable and/or sporadic, as end user ports are migrated, and the connectivity is verified.

Library Online Course Reserves Maintenance December 27, 2017 10:00 – 12:00 PT

Updates will be made in production which change the behavior of Canvas LMS interaction with library course reserves. Students registered in a Canvas course will be directed to the associated library course reserves (instead of being directed to the Library Online Course Reserves home page). A brief service interruption will occur with these changes.

Reason:           BCNET will be performing a hardware upgrade on the CR2.VNCV1 router in Vancouver.

 

Effects:            Network connectivity in Vancouver will be interrupted during this maintenance window.

Research network traffic and Local internet transit will be impacted as well.

BCNET Network Services Holiday Hours for December 2017

The Operations Centre is available for network monitoring, trouble ticket reporting, and incident escalation throughout the season.

Limited network technical staff are available regular business hours and days from December 23 through to January 1.

Statutory holidays are December 25, 26 and January 1 with staffing returning to normal as of January 2nd.

Network maintenance in Vancouver is scheduled for December 28 as previously communicated.  No other network maintenance activities are scheduled for this period.

EduCloud Server Maintenance – December 22, 2017 12:00-14:00PT

We will be performing scheduled maintenance on the EduCloud Server environment (https://bcnet.educloud.ubc.ca) for Organizations hosted in Vancouver (Point Grey) location during the above maintenance window.

Virtual machines running on the EduCloud Server service will remain up and running. Administrators will be able to manage virtual machines via standard management methods like RDP and SSH, but will not be able to manage them though the EduCloud Server Administration Portal.

EduCloud Server service will be undergoing maintenance starting at 7 AM on December 21, 2017 until 7:00 PM on December 22, 2017. There is no expected downtime during this window.

Canvas Functionality Update and CoursEval Integration – Dec 21, 2017 10:00 – 16:00 PT

We will be updating Canvas on December 21st from 10:00 to 16:00 PT. Canvas will be available during the update window. Kindly refrain from using CoursEval in Canvas until post 16:00 PT.

– For users who are enrolled in multiple sections of a course with the same role, they will be kept in the registered section and removed from the manually added section.
– Integration of CoursEval via Canvas will be implemented
