The issue regarding VDI sessions freezing for multiple users has been resolved as of March 21st at 16:05 PT.
We’ve had multiple reports that users in having their VDI sessions freeze up and are unable to log back in. UBC IT staff are continuing to investigate this issue and what buildings are affected by this. We will provide another update at 19:21PT.
We’ve had multiple reports that users in TEF 3 and Donald Rix are having their VDI sessions freeze up and are unable to log back in. UBC IT staff are continuing to investigate this issue. We will provide another update at 18:00 PT.
We’ve had multiple reports that users in TEF 3 and Donald Rix are having their VDI sessions freeze up and are unable to log back in. Our Systems team is investigating.
The UBCIT IAM team will be performing EAD domain server maintenance starting Mar 20, 2018 18:00 through until Mar 21, 2018 23:00 PT. EAD authentication and services will continue to be available during this maintenance window.
Due to a core router reboot, parts of the UBC core network briefly went down. All network connectivity has been restored at this time, and our Network Management team is investigating the root cause.
Connect will be unavailable on Sunday, March 25 from 06:30 to 08:00 PT for scheduled maintenance.
RESOLVED – UBC Collaboration Suite (Skype for Business) Conferencing – Intermittent Connectivity Issues March 12 – 15, 2018
The intermittent connection issues with Skype for Business has been resolved as of 11:49AM (PT)

These site are currently displaying a broken version of the login page due to patching the environment. The team is aware of the issue and is working to correct it as soon as possible.
Please note that this issue does not affect access to the webmail interface. It will only impact how it looks.
Network maintenance is being performed on the Earth Sciences Building Network to facilitate upgrades as part of the Network Switch Replacement Program. During this service window on Saturday Mar 17th between 08:00-14:30 PT, all Wired and Wireless network services will be unavailable and/or sporadic, as end user ports are migrated, and the connectivity is verified.
UBC Collaboration Suite (Skype for Business) Conferencing – Intermittent Connectivity Issues March 12 – 15, 2018
Over the past few days (March 12, 2018 – March 15, 2018), there have been a few isolated reports of Skype for Business meeting participants being unable to hear audio or video and in some cases getting disconnected. The issue typically resolves itself after a few minutes. Meeting participants are encouraged to try reconnecting after a few minutes as service may have been restored. The team is currently investigating and is working with Microsoft to isolate and correct the issue.

Effects: Impact will be minimized to BCNET IT services as redundant systems are in place. Some of these systems include the following;

UBC IT Encryption Services McAfee EPO (ePolicy Orchestrator) components will be upgraded to allow for support of newer Operating Systems. No service interruption is expected. The McAfee Agent icon will change to a new graphic.
The Sortable Name for some Canvas users who have no student number associated with their CWL will be updated during this maintenance window. There is no expected outage related to this maintenance.
Please be advised that Microsoft has issued two patches (KB4088875, KB4088878) on March 13, 2018 that may have an adverse impact on network connectivity of Microsoft Windows 2008 R2 and Microsoft Windows 7 virtual machines in VMware environments.
Microsoft is aware of the issue and is currently working on a resolution – we recommend that you avoid installing the two patches in the meantime.
The CWL Authentication Service (Auth2) will be undergoing maintenance on Mar 14, 2018 09:30-10:00PT.
Integration partners will be notified in advance w.r.t test steps for this change.
The Sauder MRBS (Meeting Room Booking System) at https://booking.sauder.ubc.ca/ will be undergoing a site maintenance. The Sauder MRBS site will be unavailable for the duration of the change window.
The Online Advising Management System application will not be available from 20:00 to 22:00 PT on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 due to required database maintainence.
