The Centre for Biothermodynamics (CBT) has been in existence since 1997 as part of the Laboratory for Molecular Biophysics and the Michael Smith Laboratories at UBC. This centre provides academic scientists and biotechnology corporations access to and training on a suite of high-precision instruments for biophysical measurements and is the only such service available in Canada. The centre includes high sensitivity isothermal titration calorimeters (ITC) and differential scanning calorimeters (DSC). Thermodynamic sample analysis is available with a fee-for-service structure using these instruments. In addition to calorimeters, the centre also includes a Biacore surface plasmon resonance detector for binding kinetic and thermodynamic studies and an analytical ultracentrifuge for macromolecule characterization.
This facility is located in the MSL Building on the UBC Vancouver campus, it is open Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm PST.
