Talk Title: High throughput human genetics in yeast
Abstract:
With the advent of fast and cheap genome sequencing, functional analysis is now a bottleneck for understanding human genetics and implementing personalized medicine. We are leveraging the awesome power of yeast genetics to create high throughput methods for testing the function of hundreds or thousands of human genetic variants simultaneously. I’ll discuss two such assays we’ve developed, one for activity of cytochrome P450s, which are important for drug metabolism, and a second for mutation rate, which is important for cancer risk.
