New Grad Student Orientation

Welcome to the Michael Smith Laboratories (MSL)! You’re invited to MSL’s New Grad Student Orientation!
When: Monday, September 9, 2019
Time: 10 AM to 5 PM
Starting Point: Lobby at the Michael Smith Laboratories
Activities include: Building/lab tours, lunch, and outdoor ropes course (please wear closed-toe shoes)
Lunch will be provided. Please let us know if you have any dietary restrictions.
Learn about your new workspace at the upcoming MSL New Grad Student Orientation! This full-day event will equip you with the right knowledge to start your year off right. We will start the day with a building tour where we will highlight the diverse research that goes on at MSL. From bioinformatics to bees to the gut microbiome, the MSL is a dynamic hub with a wide range of researchers working under one roof! Lunch will be provided after the building tour.
From 1 PM – 5 PM, we’ll be doing a UBC ropes course which will include team building activities in a beautiful west coast forest setting. The ropes course is safe and made for all skill levels. Everyone is encouraged to participate. The course is constructed of cables, ropes and wood, attached to the trees.
This fun-filled day is a great way to make new friends and to learn about what the MSL has to offer. To attend this event, please RSVP before September 4th to tracy.pham@msl.ubc.ca.
