Two MSL Faculty Awarded 2024 NSERC Discovery Grants
The Natural Sciences and Engineering Council of Canada (NSERC) recently announced over $554 m of research funding over five years, awarded through the Discovery Research Program. $32.1 m of this funding will support 141 projects led by UBC researchers, including MSL faculty members Drs. Jörg Bohlmann and Harry Brumer.

The NSERC Discovery Grant program aims to recognize creative and innovative research by supporting long term project goals. Distributed over five years, these grants provide operating funds often in tandem with other support programs. Researchers receiving funds have the flexibility to pursue activities that extend beyond their original proposals, as well as collaborative projects.

Functional Genomics & Biochemistry of Conifer Terpenoid Defense Systems
$480,000 over five years
Discovery, characterization, and applications of carbohydrate-active enzymes
$400,000 over five years
